Sitora Yusufiy And AR-15: ‘Rescued’ And Abused Ex-Wife’s Facebook Prayer And Assault Rifle Trend

Sitora Alisherzoda Yusufiy was the abused and beaten former wife of Omar Mateen, the shooter in Orlando who killed at least 50 people, as reported by the Inquisitr. Sitora married Mateen in 2009, as reported by Heavy. Yusufiy and Mateen were divorced after only two years of marriage. Although Mateen and Sitora were married on April 16, 2009 — that marriage would be dissolved in July, 2011, as reported by USA Today.

Sitora and Omar’s marriage license was issued in St. Lucie County, Florida, according to Florida records. Although USA Today reported that Yusufiy couldn’t be reached for a comment, Heavy is reporting that Sitora escaped her marriage to Mateen.

Sitora told Heavy that her parents were able to rescue her from Mateen, a man who has caused the largest mass shooting in U.S. history. Mateen killed 50 people and wounded 53 individuals at the Pulse Orlando gay club. The interview with Heavy revealed that Yusufiy lived with Omar for several months in 2009 prior to being rescued from Mateen.

According to the Washington Post, Sitora called Mateen abusive. Sitora’s name was not released by that publication, because Yusufiy feared for her safety. However, Sitora said she was a victim of Omar as well, escaping their marriage with her life.

“He was not a stable person. He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that. He seemed like a normal human being. He was a very private person. I am still processing. I am definitely lucky.”

Sitora said her parents literally saved her life when they swooped down to Port St. Lucie and pulled her out of the home she shared with Omar after they learned Mateen had assaulted Sitora. They left all of Sitora’s things behind. After Sitora’s parents took her away from Mateen, Yusufiy never saw Omar again. Sitora was then divorced from Mateen, with the divorce proceedings taking such a long period of time due to the distance between Omar and Sitora.

According to Heavy, the Facebook page of Sitora posted a prayer about the Orlando shooting, with that page listed as having a slightly different name than Sitora Yusufiy. Yusufiy has a variety of interesting beliefs and photos on social media, with revelations that Sitora previously worked as a cosmetologist. According to Heavy, Sitora believed Ebola hit the U.S. because the American government is “destroying the world.”

Sitora’s interests and career facts reveal that Yusufiy has a title of Director of Marketing & Creative Services at a rainforest awareness organization. Divorced from Mateen for nearly five years, Sitora has been engaged to Marcio Dias since July 26, 2015.

While Sitora’s schools are not reflected on Facebook, Mateen spent time at Indian River State College in St. Lucie County approximately 10 years ago. Omar’s ex-wife also worked at a ritzy Fifth Avenue salon, and her Facebook photos reveal a glamorous woman whose comments reflect Facebook followers calling Sitora beautiful, writing that Sitora’s image should be on the cover of Vogue.

Meanwhile, as Sitora’s name gets more attention as the ex-wife of Mateen, reports about Omar using an AR-15 assault rifle have caused it to trend on Twitter. Mateen reportedly used the AR-15 to gun down people due to Omar being enraged upon witnessing two men kiss in Miami.
