Celine Dion: Rene Angelil’s Will Leaves Dion In Charge Of Estate Worth Over $70 Million

It was in January of this year that Celine Dion lost her beloved husband, Rene Angelil, to throat cancer. According to TMZ, they’ve obtained legal documents that named Celine Dion the official administrator of her late husband Rene Angelil’s estate.

The documents revealed that, in the will, Celine Dion’s husband was generous to his children. This included his children from a marriage previous to Celine. Dion’s husband left homes to two of his children from his first children. The homes are located in Canada.

Celine and her husband have two huge estates. Both of which are up for sale. One is a $45 million estate in Florida. The other is a $25 million castle in Quebec. According to TMZ, $9 million of the money made when the estates sell will go into a trust, which is likely for the three children he had with Dion. Other properties Rene Angelil owned will go to Celine Dion.

Celine Dion will also inherit all of his furniture, clothing, cars, jewelry, and personal effects. The vast majority of her husband’s money will go into a trust. Typically, this money is used to provide support to a surviving spouse and surviving children.

TMZ also reported that because a probate was opened in Nevada, Celine Dion had to sign paperwork declaring she was not a felon.

Rene and Celine Dion have three boys together including 15-year-old Rene-Charles and five-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.

Celine Dion opened up about the recent tragedies in her life during an interview with PEOPLE Magazine. Just two days after Celine lost her husband to throat cancer at the age of 73, her brother, Daniel Dion, followed him dying of throat, brain, and lung cancer at the age of 59.

Despite having to mourn with this series of tragic events, Dion was able to talk about a silver lining during the interview.

“Rene escorted my brother. It was perfect.”

Somehow Celine Dion was able to find comfort and strength in the fact that her husband and brother were gone – but they were not alone because they passed away together.

Dion goes on to talk about how much worse it would have been if her brother had passed away first. If her brother had passed away first, she worries she may have gone to Montreal to be with her family.

“What happens to my children if my husband passes away while I’m gone?”

Tragic as the deaths are, Celine believes they couldn’t have happened in a more perfect sequence as it allowed her to continue to support her family and her children in the best way possible.

Celine Dion also opened up in the interview below about life without her husband. According to Celine, she is still living with her husband, she is just living with him differently than she was before.

Celine’s brother died on the day that would have been her husband’s 74th birthday. According to Celine, “He took him under his wings, and he said ‘You know, I’ll take good care of him.'”

Celine Dion is scheduled to perform at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards today. Afterwards, she will be presented with the esteemed ICON Award. The star will be performing a cover of Queens’ “The Show Must Go On.” This is a cover she recently recorded as a tribute to her late husband.
