‘Arrow’ Star Emily Bett Rickards Hints Olicity Reunion For Season 5, Plus Kevin Smith Wants To Write New Episodes

The CW’s Season 4 of Arrow is only two episodes away from wrapping up, yet fans hoping to see a reunion between Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Brett Rickards) may be out of luck. Plus, Kevin Smith wants to write more episodes for the CW, but this time for Arrow!

According to the Mirror, who spoke with Emily Bett Rickards at her City of Heroes 2 panel, Olicity won’t be a thing again for some time.

“She knows she loves him,” she said. “But it’s realizing there’s all these lies he’s told and then there’s this lie. Relationships are complicated! She just needs time to come to terms with the lies. It may take her time… quite a bit of time.”

Rickards was also asked about her character’s own lie and how some fans feel it contradicts why Felicity broke ties with Oliver. The lie in question is when Felicity Smoak told her mother, Donna, to give Quentin another chance after he lied to protect her.

However, the actress said that Quentin only lied once, calling it a “milky moment” as opposed to Oliver, who has lies stacked upon lies. She added that finding out about William was simply the final lie her character could handle.

Emily also hinted to fans that a Season 4 reunion between Oliver and Felicity won’t be happening.

“It could take a long time,” she said.

She also gave some insight into how her character felt after last season’s happy ending when Olicity drove off into the sunset.

“They got into perfection town, and the problem was they weren’t fighting anymore. Felicity was bored, happy but bored and that’s why she was helping Team Arrow.”

Emily was quick to add that it wasn’t Oliver she was bored with but rather the situation.

In other Arrow news, Den of Geek reports that Kevin Smith, who wrote Episode 21, “The Runaway Dinosaur,” for Season 3 of The Flash, wants to write for Season 5 of Arrow.

Kevin Smith is already set to direct another Flash episode for Season 3, so it makes sense that he would want to get his feet wet with Arrow as well.

So who’s on board with Kevin writing and directing his own Arrow episodes? Well, for one, the Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell. Amell posted via his Facebook page that Smith joining the CW for Arrow would be “a f***ing awesome idea.”

Of course, that left Smith with a chance to respond, which he did on Twitter.

“I wanna do 2 very SEVEN-ish @CW_Arrow ep’s w/ #Onomatopoeia!” Smith tweeted, adding, “I’d love to get my words in your mouth, @StephenAmell!”

For those not having a clue to what Onomatopoeia is, he is a Green Arrow comic book villain Smith created with artist Phil Hester way back in 2002. Like Arrow, this character is a master marksman, but unlike Arrow, Onomatopoeia likes to say sound effects such as “Snap” and “Bam” out loud.

But Kevin also mentioned that his character probably isn’t a good fit for the small screen.

“I think it works great in print and on a comic book page. I don’t think that character would translate very well outside of that.”

As as for what fans might expect for Arrow Season 5 outside of Olicity, Fashion & Style begs the question whether or not the Black Canary will return next season. Damien Darhk killed Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) in Episode 19, and since the Black Canary is one of the most iconic female characters in the DC universe, it makes sense that she could have a surprise return.

So fans, what do you think? Will Olicity reunite before the end of Season 4? What about the Black Canary returning for Season 5? Let us know in the comments below.

The next all-new episode of Arrow airs Wednesday, May 18, with the Season 4 finale following on May 25.
