‘The Bold And The Beautiful’: What If Ridge Is Douglas’ Father?

The secret is out, and Thomas knows that his one-night stand with Caroline resulted in Douglas’ conception. He agreed to keep quiet and allow his father to raise his child as his son. He will go along with the idea that he’s Douglas’ brother. In exchange, Caroline promised him that she’d allow him to see and have a relationship with Douglas if he agreed to allow her family to remain intact, with Ridge being her baby’s father. What if the Bold and the Beautiful spoilers were wrong? What if Ridge is Douglas father, and all the drama with Thomas was for nothing?

The Bold and the Beautiful has done a fantastic job of assuming that Thomas is the father without a paternity test to confirm. While the doctor told Ridge there was no possible way that he was Douglas’ dad, Dr. Wolin proved himself to be a snake and a master manipulator. It seems likely that he could have been wrong about Douglas’ paternity.

CBS Soaps In Depth reported that it is possible that Ridge will be discovered to be Douglas’ biological father. One of the clues was when Dr. Wolin stated there no a zero percent chance that he was his son. The doctor served his purpose to prove that Ridge couldn’t have fathered Caroline’s baby — it just wasn’t medically possible. It was as if he was trying to convince the Bold and the Beautiful audience that Thomas was the dad.

On Tuesday’s Bold and the Beautiful episode, Thomas learned that he was Douglas’ father, and grabs the infant and runs. After Caroline and Ridge had discovered that Douglas was missing and with Thomas, they realized Thomas could expose their paternity scheme to everyone. Ridge was worried about other people learning that they hid the paternity from Thomas. He was upset that other family members may not understand why they felt it was the best decision.

Caroline, however, just wanted her baby back, and knew she needed to have a conversation with Thomas to smooth everything over. She was confident she could get him to understand why they hid Douglas’ paternity and to make him see why it is the best move for their son.

What if Ridge is the father after all? No one has suggested getting a paternity test yet. Everyone seems to be taking the shady doctor’s word for it that Ridge wasn’t able to father a child. For something as complex as this situation, you’d think they want to clarify that Ridge is not the father first. What if Thomas wanted to sue for custody, only to learn years later that Douglas isn’t his child?

The Bold and the Beautiful seems to be skipping significant steps in this storyline. Not even Thomas suggested getting a paternity test, if for no other reason, but for peace of mind. He took Ridge and Caroline’s word that this baby is his son? What if it was all wrong and Thomas is not the father?

“It would be so great for Caroline because she could finally put the [one-night stand with Thomas] behind her. It would mend a lot of tension between Ridge and Thomas. It would make an interesting storyline, and with The Bold and the Beautiful, anything is possible.”

It looks like the Bold and the Beautiful writers seem to be teasing a custody battle between Ridge and Thomas. During the courtroom battle (possibly during November sweeps), it could come out that Thomas isn’t Douglas’s biological father — his real dad is Ridge. Wouldn’t that be a huge shocker after a year of this drama between them?
