Nashville Burglar Broke Into Home To Save His ‘Wife’ Taylor Swift

Police departments all over the world just might be used to all kinds of excuses from the criminals they arrest for the crimes they have allegedly committed, but one Nashville burglar had a different excuse. He told the homeowner of the house he broke into that he was there to save his wife, Taylor Swift.

Paul E. Herrin, 26, was arrested after he tried to push his way into a man’s home, telling the homeowner he was there to “save Taylor Swift,” who was reportedly his wife.

According to the police affidavit in the case, Herrin knocked on the door of a Nashville, Tenn. home on Wednesday this week. The owner, who also happens to be a landlord, assumed it was someone visiting to drop off a rent check and he opened the door. However, when the door was open, he found Herrin, a person unknown to him, standing there. The burglar then attempted to push the door open, placing his left foot inside to stop the owner from closing the door on him.

As reported by Fox17 Nashville, when the homeowner demanded that Herrin should leave, he continued trying to push the door open, saying he was there to save Taylor Swift, his wife, and that he had every right to search the residence.

The homeowner was scared and continued to struggle to keep the door closed, and was finally able to shut it on Herrin and immediately call the police. At that moment, he heard Herrin attempting to open the back door of his home.

NewsChannel5 reported that when the police arrived on the scene, they found Herrin in the back yard. He immediately repeated the story he had told the homeowner to the police officers, saying he had come there from Knoxville to rescue his wife Taylor Swift.

Herrin went on to say that he had been told by a source “he could not reveal to the police” to look for a house with a green light shining over the front door, which apparently matched the home he attempted to break into.

The wannabe burglar was then taken into custody without incident and booked on a charge of aggravated burglary and is currently being held on a $30,000 bond.

As reported by Us Weekly, it is likely a good thing Herrin didn’t break into a home where Taylor Swift was actually residing at the time.

Swift recently opened up to the magazine in a special edition of “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me,” and one of the 25 things included a story about Mace.

Swift, now 26, went on to say that when she was in high school, she used to give her friends Mace for their key chains, so they could always defend themselves if they needed to. No doubt Taylor herself always has some of that handy Mace on hand, just in case, as Herrin would no doubt have found out to his detriment.

This was only one of the revelations offered up by the 10-time Grammy winner. Swift also admitted to her soft side, saying she speaks to her mom on the phone around three times a day and that she has a soft spot for the Disney classic Pocahontas. Reportedly, she cannot watch the film without crying. As for pets, Taylor Swift reportedly kept hermit crabs as pets when she was a kid.

One surprising note mentioned was that Taylor prefers people to come up and ask her for a photo when in a restaurant, rather than just pointing their cameras at her and snapping away like a paparazzi. She said it feels more like a real human interaction if they ask first.
