iLoveMakonnen: ‘Drink More Water 6’ And Critics Who Prefer ‘Fat Makonnen’?

iLoveMakonnen is dropping weight and new music, as a personal testimony to “drink more water.” But, it seems that some people don’t like Makonnen’s weight-loss.

Every musical artist has a particular demographic. In the worst of cases, even Ice JJ Fish has an encouraging listening-audience, right? iLoveMakonnen’s music has a large “stoner” following, similar to Wiz Khalifa — except by a fraction of the size.

Also, there’s no particular genre under which iLoveMakonnen’s music is categorized. He’s his own thing. And, he makes it a point to drink more water — pun intended.

Given his newly acquired health consciousness, iLoveMakonnen has been eating better, exercising, reducing stress, and — of course — drinking more water.

Seemingly, the weight has dropped right off.

Currently, there’s a poll circulating social media about which Makonnen is preferred: New Makonnen or “Big Sexy.” Ideally, you’d think his supporters would choose “New Makonnen,” right?

Surprisingly, a large number — more than would be expected, anyway — are choosing “Big Sexy” over the new, healthy version.

Surely, iLoveMakonnen wanted elaboration, as can be seen in the aforementioned tweet. Regardless of Makonnen’s hard work and discipline, the consensus is that his fans came to love “fat Makonnen.” It’s possible that this healthy version simply makes some of his supporters uncomfortable.

While some of his listeners disagree with his weight change, he mentioned his mental switch to health consciousness during an interview with DJ Booth. iLoveMakonnen stated that, as far as the diet’s difficulty, it wasn’t hard.

“It’s not hard to eat healthy. You just have to choose to eat right,” he elaborated. He also mentioned staying away from fried foods.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), it’s extremely easy to revert to junk and processed foods. The agency actually created a book concerning health maintenance for United States citizens. But, how many people do you think have read that one?

So, while it might seem like iLoveMakonnen’s stating the obvious — when choosing to eat right — you have to make that choice wholly and fully. For some, it’s a “walk in the park.” For others, it’s a walk “through the valley of the shadow of death,” so to speak. Yet, maybe iLoveMakonnen will expound more on the topic via his own book.

In the interview, iLoveMakonnen mentioned writing a book about his process and what he did to lose his weight so quickly. However, that’s just one of the many endeavors iLoveMakonnen is undertaking.

Yet, to digress, there’s still his music. iLoveMakonnen’s music has gained more features over the years. As he mentioned in the same interview, he’s worked with a lot of known acts on his new project in Atlanta. Even on Drink More Water 5, he featured Migos on the “Whip It” remix.

Do you think iLoveMakonnen will keep his new body? If you have issues with junk food and snacks, you know it takes a lot more than just saying, “I’m going to eat healthy and change the way I eat.” There has to be a shift. And, when it happens, you have to keep from going backward.

Which iLoveMakonnen do you prefer? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
