Jennifer Lopez Beats Britney Spears At The Las Vegas Box Office

Both Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears are doing well in their Las Vegas residencies, but Lopez is doing a little better. According to Billboard‘s latest box office chart, Jennifer Lopez comes in at No. 1 with 25,918 tickets sold out of 25,918 available. With six shows, Lopez has made $5,133,990.

Britney Spears’ box office reports are a little bit of a disappointment this week. She came in at No. 4 with 19,454 tickets sold out of 25,203 available. With six shows, Britney grossed $2,940,106. However, that’s not chump change and it is important to note that Britney has been playing on-and-off for the past two years, so ticket demand isn’t going to be as big as it was two years ago.

Britney Spears is doing well enough that her show has been renewed. She has decided to change up her show and from all the rehearsals, is showing a lot of bruises. The Daily Mail has the news.

“Britney Spears took to Instagram on Monday to announce she is in the middle of changing up her performance – and it is certainly taking a lot out of her. The 34-year-old posted a snap of banged up legs on social media to prove that she is hard at work creating something new for her fans.”

With all the hard work Jennifer Lopez is doing on stage, she probably has some bruises as well. However, she has yet to post them on Instagram. Instead, she recently posted a picture of herself performing.

Meanwhile, Ms. Lopez is facing controversy over her decision to play in Israel this summer. Breitbart has the news.

“Jennifer Lopez is facing a fierce Twitter backlash over her plan to perform in Israel this summer, with pro-Palestinian activists attacking her on social media and demanding she cancel her concert.”

Breitbart adds that writing under the hashtag #CancelTelAviv, activists have been questioning her motives for wanting to gig in Tel Aviv, accusing her of entertaining children’s killers. Some of the tweets are pretty nasty and even racist.

However, there are some who certainly support JLo’s decision to play Israel.

Jennifer Lopez isn’t the type of artist to let fanatics faze her. She will likely play Israel and, judging by the fantastic reviews for her current show, she will satisfy all attendees. Unfortunately, her televisions show Shades of Blue isn’t getting the same praise.

USA Today calls her show a pale police series.

“Now we come back to earth with Shades of Blue, a thoroughly ordinary reworking of pretty much every crooked cop show and movie you’ve ever seen,” says critic Robert Bianco.

Deadline Hollywood doesn’t think much of the show either. Critic Dominic Patten claims that the new Jennifer Lopez series seems like a bland vehicle for her star power, which is anything but bland right now. Since appearing on American Idol in 2010, Jennifer Lopez has rejuvenated her career and has even outshone her one-time rival, Mariah Carey. Jennifer Lopez remains one of the most determined and beloved performers of our time.
