‘Teen Wolf’ Spoilers: The Dread Doctors Will ‘Eventually’ Be Unmasked, Plus What Gerard Wants

Teen Wolf Season 5 is bringing back some familiar faces in the second half. Gerard has already been seen, and Deucalion’s return was teased at the end of the latest episode. But what does everyone want? And what’s coming up for the Dread Doctors before the end of the season?

A couple of episodes back in Teen Wolf Season 5B, Argent paid Gerard a visit and got him back up so he’s useful again, namely because of the Beast that’s being problematic on top of everything else they’re dealing with right now. Gerard is going to be telling the story of the Beast of Gévaudan in the upcoming flashback episode that features Crystal Reed’s return. Reed is returning as Marie-Jeanne Valet in the February 23 episode, “The Maid of Gévaudan,” in which Gerard will be recounting what happened back in France in the 1760s when the Beast was around to see if it provides the pack with anything useful.

In the latest Teen Wolf episode, soon after Scott and Stiles rescue Kira from her trip in the desert when the skinwalkers tell her she has to stay and become one of them since she has no control over her fox, Liam and Mason report that Theo is looking for a blind alpha. Deucalion’s return is on the horizon, although it would have been more of a surprise if it hadn’t already been spoiled by Season 5B previews.

While the Beast is quite the threat, however, there are still the Dread Doctors to be worried about. Showrunner Jeff Davis told Entertainment Weekly that “unmasking [them] is definitely on the table.”

“The makeup for underneath the surgeons’ masks … our makeup effects artist did a phenomenal job. We’re happy about it. You’ll see it eventually.”

While the season is split in two – 5A and 5B – they’re looking at all 20 episodes as one, and by the season finale, the EP teased that “you’ll know the fate of the Dread Doctors, you’ll know the fate of all of our characters, and how it leads into season 6.”

In fact, the Beast is pretty much on everyone’s (at least the villains’) mind as part of their goals. Davis explained that its resurrection could be advantageous to all of them.

“Theo wants its power, [and] Gerard wants the legacy of his family back – if they can defeat the Beast of Gévaudan again, he believes he’ll restore the good name of the Argents to its legacy. He wants immortality in that sense. And the Dread Doctors have their own ambitions.”

But first, Scott needs to get his pack back together, and that’s what he’s trying to do right now in Teen Wolf Season 5B. He has Kira (though the fact that she’s not completely in control of her fox could be a problem). Getting Lydia back is key, and right now, she’s in Eichen House and getting some banshee training from Meredith.

However, as the previews for the next episode tease, Lydia won’t be alone (physically) for much longer. Stiles is at her side, but the sneak peek released by MTV shows that he’s not going to get much time with her.

“Come on, Lydia, you have to come back to us. There’s no way we’re getting through this without you,” Stiles tells her. “Lydia, you have to wake up.”

However, that’s all the time he really gets with her before her mother interrupts, ready to send him on his way – especially after he starts questioning just what they’re doing to Lydia there. She doesn’t leave him with much of a choice but to go if he wants to come back to see her daughter again.

Teen Wolf Season 5B airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
