Cate Blanchett Takes A Stand On A Same-Sex Marriage Referendum

Cate Blanchett is stunning, elegant, and sophisticated. But she has still made her fashion mistakes. She recently told Allure that her biggest regret was dying her arm hair in high school.

“Bleaching my arm hair in high school — it was copper orange in patches and purple in others. Never again.”

Cate Blanchett also spoke of her daily beauty routine, which she says is pretty basic.

“Fairly basic. I’ll put a small amount of moisturizer into my base, then rub that in, add a flick of mascara if there’s time, and a bit of blush.”

Besides her incredible beauty, Cate Blanchett is also a good person, supporting the rights of same-sex couples. The Daily Mail reports that in a recent interview on ABC’s 7:30, Blanchett spoke of whether she felt that a referendum to allow Australians to vote on the issue of same-sex marriage was a good thing. Her answer was yes.

“I think it’s great. I think referendums are fantastic as long as the question is phrased in a way which is not meant to deliberately confuse or confound people.”

Cate Blanchett also expresses her confusion as to why same-sex marriage is such a difficult issue for people who aren’t even affected by the outcome of any legislation related to it.

“The interesting thing for me about the debate about same sex marriage, quite aside from the film of Carol, is that it’s one of those issues where it has no impact on anyone apart from the people that it impacts upon, so I find it quite bewildering that it’s so complicated for people.”

Check out the entire interview here. This past fall, Cate Blanchett’s movie, Carol, was released in theaters. It tells the story of two women who explore a love relationship in the 1950s. The trailer shows the beauty and passion of the film.

Cate Blanchett has been praised for her portrayal of Carol in the movie and for her acting career in general. The Daily Mail reports that she was awarded the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her role in Carol, which was presented to her Saturday at the 2016 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. Saoirse Ronan presented the award to a beaming Cate Blanchett.

So what does Cate Blanchett’s future hold? Perhaps an Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards? While that is not definite, it seems a year off from acting is. Harper’s Bazaar reports that Blanchett has a newly adopted addition in their family. She and husband Andrew Upton recently adopted a new little girl to add to their family of three biological children. Blanchett spoke of the adoption process and her family.

“You’re on the list and then you get the call. You don’t know anything about the child you’re going to meet. Our three biological children have been extraordinary. It’s been wonderful watching them become a little brood.”

Cate Blanchett has said that she wants to slow down and enjoy family life in 2016.

“I’m not planning on working much in 2016 either.”

USA Today reports that Cate Blanchett said she will focus on their family over the week between the PSIFF and the Golden Globe Awards, which take place on January 10. There will be a whole lot of Disney happening for them.

“We’re going to pepper next week with a whole lot of Disneyland, L.A. immersion experiences. Which will keep the week in check, keep the pressure off.”

Kudos to Cate Blanchett for her outlook on life and her inspiring performances. And good luck during awards season!
