‘Love Is Love’: Holland Taylor, Sarah Paulson Romance Is A Real Thing, And It’s Pretty Sweet

It’s official; sort of. The rumored May-December romance between Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson has been confirmed by anonymous sources, but their supposed relationship remains unverified by the actresses themselves.

Holland, 72, and Sarah, 40, have been trading endearing tweets for months that have hinted at a loving relationship. With Taylor’s admission earlier this week that she’s gay and has a young girlfriend, speculation immediately began that the American Horror Story star was her main squeeze.

Turns out, the speculation appears to be correct. A source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the duo is dating, and they have been for quite a while. The unnamed insider specified that they have been an item for “a few months,” but didn’t elaborate.

Meanwhile, another source confirmed much the same to a different celebrity magazine; US Weekly. That person specified that Taylor and Paulson have been dating for six months, and the romance is getting serious.

She suggested as much during her candid reveal about her sexuality on a radio show this week, in which she said the age difference was shocking, and she didn’t like talking about her romantic life because of the politics that usually surround an announcement of being gay.

After dropping the hint that her girlfriend was much younger, she said the connection was the most serious and committed of her life, and wedding bells were indeed ringing, as the Inquisitr previously reported.

“I would not do that publicly. My relationship is with a woman, and I have not — given my generation it would not be something that would automatically occur to me,” Holland said. “But she’s mentioned it because just from a spiritual point of view, from a heart point of view… as a deed that has a very rich symbolic gesture to it, it has its attraction.”

Of course, Paulson and Taylor are generations apart. While Sarah has always been open about the fluidity of her sexuality, Holland admitted that her generation didn’t allow for such liberal thinking, specifically about marriage, according to Radar Online.

“Given my generation it would not be something that would automatically occur to me. But as a symbol, as a pledge, as a plight one’s troth, it would be a wonderful thing to do.”

Holland Taylor did note that she didn’t really “come out because I am out. I live out.”

Among the circumstantial evidence bolstering confirmation from the anonymous source (or sources) is a series of precious tweets between the apparently smitten couple. There’s that famous tweet by Holland when Sarah, the younger actress, was posing in a gold gown, with the text that read, “When captions fail…”

Then came the tweet from Paulson to Taylor proclaiming, “I love your mind,” which appeared on Twitter last month. This was followed by an appreciative response saying, “I love your appreciation. It’s you with the fine (and beautiful) head…” In October, the older woman gushed, “For the record, @MsSarahPaulson is great. Period. The end.”

It seems Holland has earned this new love after years of emotional hardship. According to People, the relationship follows a “dead period” in her life, which she spoke about in 2013. During this period, she admitted to struggling with depression after her mother died and turned to both counseling and anti-depressants for 15 years.

“I wasn’t actually a danger to myself but I really sometimes wondered how I could get out of the house to go get food,” she said at the time.

For Paulson, this is the second time the actress has dated an older women. Sarah dated Cherry Jones, 59, for five years, and her romantic past has included men as well as women. For the younger woman, sexuality isn’t something that can be defined and in an interview this November, she eloquently stated a simple fact about relationships that transcends any discussion about sexual orientation or gender, saying, “It’s very clear that love is love.”

And that, if the rumors are true, is exactly what these two women have.
