Kanye West’s Album ‘SWISH’ Is Coming ‘Very Soon’

It sounds like if you want to know about album releases, just talk to Travis Scott. Scott recently confirmed that Rihanna’s album, Anti, is coming out very soon, and now he’s talking about Kanye West’s delayed album, SWISH.

One of the first times we heard about West’s SWISH, was back in July of 2014. In an interview with GQ magazine, West said the album would be coming in the fall. At the time, when he was asked about the progress on the album, he compared it to Beyoncé’s latest release, and how it took her a long time to craft her last album.

Nearly a year and a half after that interview, and we finally have seemingly concrete news on West’s upcoming album, SWISH. Although Travis Scott didn’t drop an exact date on the album, he said West will be dropping it “very soon.” In an interview with Beats 1, Scott said the following about the album.

“That Ye album is nothing to sleep on. That Ye album is coming very soon. It’s lit.”

This echos what Scott said earlier about West’s SWISH. Back in June, he talked up the rapper’s genius in an interview.

“His album is amazing. He’s on his producing s–t. He’s on his God-level rapping s–t. It’s that Kanye everybody wants. It’s some ultimate s–t.”

And, what does everyone want exactly? Most of Kanye’s super fans loved the experimental sound of Yeezus but some listeners, didn’t really “get” the manic way and overly hyper sound of the record. It wasn’t a pop rap album like My Beautiful Dark Fantasy, West’s most well-received album. Instead, it seemed to take a note from his album, 808s & Heartbreak, and push it out of this world, musically speaking.

Do fans want more of the Yeezus sound? Odds are they’ll get a similar sound if his single, “All Day,” is evidence of where the album is going. We’ve also heard a more sensitive West with new tracks like “Only One,” “FourFiveSeconds,” and “Wolves.”

West has always been very unpredictable in the public eye, and that extends to his music. Although back in June, West said the album wasn’t going to come out anytime soon, we’re also talking about the same guy who impulsively decided to change his album title three times, and later tweeted that it might change again.

Although Travis Scott seems to be in the know, it’s more than likely West is going to drop his album as a surprise.

“I really wanna go away, like I been doing a lot of features, right now I just want to take some time to focus on my album, my next collection and North’s birthday. Just focus on my family and then be able to recharge and reenergize and bring something of value.”

During Paris Fashion Week, ‘Ye decided to play his entire album during a party where he also announced that the album previously titled, So Help Me God but he changed it back to Swish.

As far as collaborators, we know that Paul McCartney is definitely featured. His whistling can be heard on “All Day” and he also contributed to “Only One” and “FourFiveSeconds.” Sia is also rumored to be on a track, as well.

Another collaboration that’s up in the air is Taylor Swift. At the Grammys, West said that he was working with Swift in the studio, but when Taylor was asked, she said they hadn’t stepped in the studio together yet.

Since we can’t rely on West’s word, maybe we can rely on Travis Scott?
