Jim Carrey Pays Tribute To Ex-Girlfriend, Cathriona White Asks His Forgiveness In A Suicide Note

Jim Carrey flew to Ireland to pay his respects to his former girlfriend Cathriona White on Saturday. The actor helped carry his late ex-girlfriend’s casket at the service.

Carrey joined the 300 people who came to White’s funeral service at the local parish, Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cappawhite, County Tipperary, Ireland. White’s friends and extended family members travelled long distances to say their final goodbyes, according to the Irish Times. White was buried beside her late father who died of brain cancer in 2012.

White was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on September 28, in what seems to be a suicide. “Cathriona’s approach to life was to take on, to challenge the county, the country, the world,” Rev. Tadhg Furlong, who presided over the ceremony, said.

“Cathriona was a light to so many. Something of the light has gone out. Yet much remains. The light continues to shine. The light of love lives on; the love you had for Cathriona; the love she had for you.”

Carrey posted a Twitter photo of silhouette figures of him and White facing each other with the caption “Love cannot be lost.”

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,” Carrey told Today in a statement after learning of his former girlfriend’s demise.

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”

Although White is believed to have taken her own life, the official cause of death will not be declared until an autopsy is performed, said Ed Winter, assistant chief for the operations and investigation division of the L.A. County coroner’s office.

An autopsy was accomplished on Sunday, but eight to ten more weeks will be required as further examinations will be done to verify the results before the authorities could release the findings.

“It came in as a suicide but we’re not noting it as such yet until we can confirm what was in her system,” the medical examiner said in a statement.

Winter previously told People that there were four prescription bottles found beside White’s body and none of them was listed under her name. Three were discovered to be under one name and one was listed under another name.

TMZ was told the name on the three pill containers was an alias for Carrey, and as for the fourth bottle, it’s still not clear who owned it. Also found at White’s home was a note for Carrey. “There were several notes found,” Winter confirmed. “There was a note (addressed) to Mr. Carrey.”

Carrey had been in an on-and-off relationship with the 30-year-old makeup artist and hairstylist for three years. He may be interrogated about White’s death, which happened five days after their split.

An insider told Radar Online what was written in the letter: “Jim, I love you. Please forgive me. I’m not for this world.” It was revealed that she was married to Mark Burton until the time of her death. Burton, a Scientologist, was declared as her next of kin but he and White were planning to finalize their divorce this year. Authorities also found out that White was called a failure by her biological mother on her 30th birthday just several days before the unfortunate event. Police investigators confirmed she received the message. She also tried to kill herself in 2012 after her father died.

It looks like White had already foreshadowed her death in her last Twitter post: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”
