They may not be appearing at MTV’s Movie Awards together – Kristen Stewart is presenting an award, but Robert Pattinson will not be attending – but fans are likely to see them back together in another film after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′s final swansong.
The really interesting part? That film is likely to be based on a screenplay written by Pattinson and Stewart themselves.
“We’re trying to write a script together,” the Brit actor told Belgian magazine Ciné Télé-Revue while he was in Cannes. “It won’t be for now but we’ve thought about it for a long time.”
Less than two weeks ago Kristen told Celebuzz, “I’m dying to make another movie with Rob, I think that we’re a good team.”
As Matt Damon and Ben Affleck proved in Good Will Hunting (1997), writing your own vehicle can be a very effective way for actors to chart their own destiny.
Kristen’s mother, Jules Stewart – a seasoned scriptwriter – co-wrote and directed hard-hitting transgender prison drama K-11, so it’s not surprising her daughter would be interested in adding this string to her bow.
These are exciting times for Pattinson and Stewart.
Recently returned from a successful Cannes Film Festival appearance, where both had films playing in competition – Pattinson with Cosmopolis and Stewart with On the Road – 26 year-old Pattinson told Ciné Télé-Revue he would never “disown” The Twilight Saga.
Instead, the actor said it was, “a beautiful period in my life but now it’s time to turn the page.”
And that “page” could be one this talented and ambitious couple actually write together. Until then, both actors can be seen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 when it hits theaters on November 16.
