Noah Wyle Arrested in Washington Protest

ER actor Noah Wyle has been arrested while protesting in Washington, DC. The actor was protesting on Capitol Hill with 100 others, who were also cuffed early Monday.

Wyle helped the members of the group ADAPT protest in Washington in hopes that Medicaid wouldn’t be cut by members of Congress. The members and Wyle were handcuffed in the Cannon House Office Building.

ADAPT’s mission statement featured on the main page of their site says, ADAPT is a national grass-roots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom.” On the site April 21-26 are the designated “Action!” days to defend freedom.

ADAPT has maintained their belief that if Medicaid is cut by congress then the elderly and disabled wouldn’t receive the proper care that they need.

On April 19th, ADAPT announced on their official Facebook page that Noah Wyle would be joining them in the fight, writing, “Wyle’s support of ADAPT is a natural extension of other important issues he has championed. He is involved in a number of issue-oriented initiatives, including serving as national spokesperson for Cover the Uninsured Week, an unprecedented effort to bring awareness of the 44 million Americans who have no health coverage.”

All of the coverage of the arrests made have already been documented on ADAPT’s Twitter page.

Do you agree that Noah Wyle and ADAPT should have been arrested? What do you think on ADAPT and Wyle’s stance on the cutting of Medicaid.
