Four people found dead in a Baltimore hotel room Monday have been identified as William Parente, 59; Betty Parente, 58; Stephanie Parente, 19; and Catherine Parente, 11; all of Garden City, N.Y., on Long Island. The Baltimore County Police Department said they are continuing to investigate the case as a murder-suicide.
In a telephone interview, the Parente’s next-door neighbor, Mary Opulente Krener, said that William and Betty Parente were a couple and Stephanie and Catherine were their daughters. “I can’t tell you how heartsick I am,” she said. “This is the most wonderful family, the most kind and loving family. I’m astounded.” She said William Parente was a real estate attorney in New York.
Hotel staff at the Sheraton Baltimore North in Towson, a suburb of Baltimore, found the bodies in a locked room Monday afternoon after the guests failed to check out when they were supposed to.

This occurred right here in my home town. It's all over the local news. Very sad story.
What I don't get about these murder/suicides is, if you're going to kill yourself, why don't you do it BEFORE you take out everyone else with you?

They were such an amazing family, everyone thought of them as the “perfect” family. Betty had so many miracles her two beautiful girls (when she didn't think she'd be able to have children), a breast cancer survivor, and a husband who seemed to love them more than anyone could imagine. If this could happen to them how can we be sure we ever really know anyone? If he felt he couldn't live any more why take them with him? How unbelievably horrible!!!

This is what the lack of money will do to a person. Its so sad that this is what we have become as a civilazation. Money has been taking priority over our own lives more and more as the years pass. Very sad that he thought he had to die rather then confront his debts. And becuase his family would be responsible if they survived he figured this was the only way out. I dont know how any parent can kill their own child. Let the children have their chance.

they were great people i miss them so much catherine went to my school and was in my girl scout troop its wont be the same in school or girl scouts we built a memioral in school for the family its just so sad that the were not able to live a full life i just can stp crying about this. (crys)
