BET Awards: Janet Jackson Tribute Slammed On Twitter Days In Advance

The Janet Jackson tribute is perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated moments of the BET Awards 2015 broadcast.

As soon as it was confirmed that Janet Jackson would be honored during the ceremony, numerous fans and critics wondered exactly which singers would be chosen to honor her.

However, when the names of the people involved were finally confirmed, that excitement and enthusiasm apparently dwindled for a quite a few people.

On Tuesday, BET confirmed that singers Ciara, Tinashe, and Jason Derulo were confirmed performers that would pay tribute to Janet Jackson.

Many fans and critics were absolutely excited about BET selecting Ciara to be part of the epic tribute to Janet Jackson during the network’s award ceremony.

Most fans are excited to see what Ciara will do on-stage during the Janet Jackson tribute simply because she is one of the most qualified people in the music industry to honor her.

Janet Jackson built a solid reputation as an entertainer primarily because of her own list of addictive hits and impressive dance moves. Therefore, matching Ciara with Janet Jackson would likely seem like a perfect fit to the average fan of Janet’s work over the years.

Even though fans are excited to see Ciara perform, numerous people slammed the Janet Jackson tribute simply because of Tinashe and Jason Derulo being added to the roster.

Many of the fans and critics that were upset by the network’s decision to involve Tinashe and Jason did not hesitate to slam the BET Awards. Some even viewed the decision as a major sign of disrespect to the legendary entertainer and sister of the late Michael Jackson.

There were even quite a few videos and memes posted on Twitter, mocking BET’s decision to add Tinashe and Jason to the Janet Jackson tribute.

Instead of allowing Jason Derulo and Tinashe to take the stage, there was an overwhelming number of tweets stating that Ciara should have been the only one chosen for the tribute.

The 29-year-old “I Bet” singer is more than capable of performing a medley of Janet Jackson’s hit songs in addition to mastering her iconic dance choreography on stage.

There was even speculation circulating online that Ciara and Chris Brown would team up as a dynamic duo to perform the choreography form the 1995 hit Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson duet, “Scream.”

When the BET Awards 2015 broadcast airs Sunday night, the rumors and speculation surrounding the Janet Jackson tribute will either be confirmed or squashed.

The tribute performance will more than likely take place before the 49-year-old singer accepts the inaugural Ultimate Icon Award, which will also be presented during the BET Awards broadcast.

Perhaps Janet Jackson will even grace the stage with a performance of her own — showing Tinashe, Jason Derulo, Ciara, and the rest of the world how it’s done.
