Boy George in Nightclub Attack

A grim picture was released of Boy George this afternoon revealing a nasty black eye that the troubled singer endured after a nightclub attack in northeast England on Saturday.

The singer, who’s real name is George O’Dowd was leaving the club Amadeus on Saturday night in North Yorkshire when the assault occurred.

According to British newspaper, The Daily Mail, the Culture Club lead singer’s representative released a statement, “George was leaving the club when…a drunken and aggressive woman lunged for his hat and in doing so hit him in the eye.'”

Said drunken and aggressive woman was asked to leave the club after the altercation, and the singer was nice enough to refuse to press charges against the unnamed woman.

However, Boy George did take to Twitter, albeit temporarily, to document the whole incident, tweeting a photo of his swollen black eye, with a caption that said, “Looking pretty after getting assaulted on Saturday night.” The tweet has since been deleted by George.

Another cryptic tweet by the singer showed up on his timeline saying, “Someone pulled off my hat and in the struggle to get it back I got poked in the eye!”

Of course the assault didn’t stop the bizarrely and often androgynous styling of Boy George. The night went off without a hitch as shades were placed on the singer’s face by a member of his entourage in an effort to cover the already forming bruise on his eye.

Boy George went on to give a tweet shout out to the fashionistas that helped him recover after the assault, tweeting, “The genius of Christine! One eye Joe! I have a gig so had to be clever! Quite Left Eye innit!”

Looks like Boy George hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
