Jason Statham Has No Interest In Marvel Films: ‘Anybody Can Do It’ [Updated]

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Jason Statham is currently being considered to play Bullseye in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil series. If Statham takes the part, it will be the first time he has appeared in a Marvel production of any kind.

While fans await to hear confirmation about Jason Statham signing on for the next season of Daredevil, the actor opened up recently about how he’s not a fan of Marvel films and a lot of other “modern action movies.” During an interview with i400calci, Statham revealed that he has “no ambition” to take a role in one of those films because the people who do them don’t do a lot of their own stuntwork.

“I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a greenscreen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they’re relying on stunt doubles, and greenscreen, and $200 million budget; it’s all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I’m inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it.”

Talking to the Guardian, Jason Statham continued his rant on why he doesn’t have interest in superhero movies.

“You slip on a cape and you put on the tights and you become a superhero? They’re not doing anything! They’re just sitting in their trailer. It’s absolutely, 100% created by stunt doubles and green screen. How can I get excited about that?”

Statham has nothing against big-budgeted franchises, though. During the same interview with the Guardian, Statham said he does have an interest in playing James Bond, once Daniel Craig is done with the role.

“I’d make a decent Bond, but it’d be very, very different if I did it.”

But Jason Statham doesn’t see himself playing the villain in a Bond film.

“I don’t know if I wanna to do that. That’s not my thing. I’d rather play the other guy.”

Jason Statham has yet to say anything about the role for the Daredevil series, but it’s not the first time he has been asked to be a part of the story about the blind superhero. According to Latino Review, when the rights for Daredevil went back to Marvel, 20th Century Fox wanted to reboot the franchise with a new movie. Statham was one of the actors they approached for consideration, but it’s not clear on the role for which he would have auditioned.

Do you think Jason Statham will say no to the role of Bullseye after this interview?

Update: Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Jason Statham is no longer attached to the Daredevil series, stating that the information “leak” about his role is the reason.
