‘Gilmore Girls’ Reunion: Scott Patterson Hints That New Show Or Movie Is In The Works

Gilmore Girls could be moving closer to a reunion, with actor Scott Patterson sparking rumors that Stars Hollow could be coming back to television or movie screens.

The fan-favorite show went off the air in 2007, but the disjointed and ambiguous ending left many fans unsatisfied. In the years that followed, there have been several rumors that the show could be reincarnated in some form, but the latest rumors seem to give the most hope yet.

Patterson, who played Luke Danes, appeared on the Gilmore Guys podcast and gave fans hope of a reunion.

“There are talks going on at the moment… So I’m hopeful, and you know, I’m in. I think it would be a big event, and I think it would be a great fan celebration. They deserve it. I think there’s a lot of territory left unexplored that we could explore in a limited series or a TV movie or feature film, whatever that may be. I think it really just comes down to the script. I think everybody would jump on board.”

Other stars have hinted at a reunion. In a Reddit AMA from last year, Lauren Graham said she remains close with many of the cast members.

“Love her, we’ll always have a special bond,” she said of Alexis Bledel, who played her on-screen daughter. “Saw her in NY not too long ago. I had a nice lunch with TV mom Kelly [Bishop] and [show creator] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] as well.”

Graham also said she would be open to doing movie reunion if the circumstances were right.

“I appreciate how many have asked,” she wrote. “That character was so special – I wonder what happens to her too! Yes, IF a movie version could be as good as we’d all want it to be, I’d love to play that character again.”

But it seems clear that nothing has been in the works in the last few years. Bledel addressed the rumors back in 2010, telling Entertainment Weekly that there were never any plans to bring Gilmore Girls back to the air.

“We have no official, or we’ve heard no official plans to make a movie,” Bledel said.

If there is a Gilmore Girls reunion, it could be announced soon. Much of the cast is set to appear on a panel discussion at the ATX Television Festival next month. There is growing speculation that if the show is to be reincarnated, it could be announced then.
