David Duchovny Denies Dating Gillian Anderson As ‘X-Files’ Prepares For Production

David Duchovny denies dating Gillian Anderson, and he breaks the hearts of X-Files fans around the world. Fans of the popular series have hoped for years that the pair would start an off-screen relationship, but Duchovny has now made it clear that a romantic relationship between the pair is never going to happen.

USA Today shared the comments made by David Duchovny during a recent TV Line interview. Rumors heated up that the pair indeed a couple after Anderson joined Duchovny on stage for a performance earlier this month. The kiss he planted on her had everyone talking.

The news outlet asked the actor if a romance was happening behind the scenes between him and Anderson. He denied it completely, and he explained away the kiss as well.

“The whole thing about Gillian and I dating is so weird. It’s never happened, it’s not going to happen, we’re friends. I don’t want to rain on anybody’s parade, but no, it’s not gonna happen. It hasn’t happened. I see Gillian, I kiss her hello. She’s my friend. If somebody gets a picture of that, if it’s on stage and she comes up to sing with me, I’m going to kiss her hello. I wish the show would be enough. I don’t understand why people want more from Gillian and I. I really don’t.”

Duchovny was married to actress Tea Leoni for 17 years. They divorced in 2014, and Leoni is now dating her Madam Secretary co-star, Tim Daly. The pair went public with their relationship earlier this year. Madam Secretary will return to CBS for a second season in the fall.

Duchovny has spoken about his love life recently. In an interview with People Magazine, the actor was very candid about his love life and whether or not he sees himself settling down and marrying someone new in the future.

“I don’t think I want to be married again. I just feel like I’m old! My marriage and my family is one of the happiest parts of the history of my life. I would never change it. I don’t understand why people try to rewrite their history. [Tea and I] live five blocks away from each other. For our children, it’s necessary. We should have a zip line!”

Duchovny takes being a dad very seriously as well. He likes to spend time with his kids. He shared more about being dad, according to AZCentral.

“People always talked to me about quality time. I really think it’s quantity time. I like my relationship with my kids to not be special. I’m their father; I’m not the cruise director. I like to have dinner and check in on them while they do their homework. This is life.”

However, Duchovny might have a bit too much on his plate for a love life. On Thursday, his new television series, Aquarius, will premiere on NBC. The series goes back in time to focus on the 1960s and the Charles Manson era. Duchovny plays a detective on the series.

Duchovny shared his thoughts on the new series and the story being told with TV Line.

“Hodiak does not see him as murderer, for sure. He sees him as a punk, not even as a worthy adversary. He’s a pimp. He’s a con man. He’s manipulating very young women and young boys. Hodiak knows exactly what Manson is doing and how he’s doing it. It’s not a big mystery. The mystery is going to be what happens in history. That, Hodiak does not see coming. It’s very interesting to me that you have this murder looking on the horizon of the show that is inescapable, and your two ‘heroes’ who are put in charge of making sure that doesn’t happen, aren’t going to be able to do that.”

As for The X-Files, the series will go into production on June 8, according to International Business Times. A premiere date for the short season of January 24 has been set.

According to a previous Inquisitr report, Chris Carter teased that fans will see more of Mulder and Scully’s relationship. However, fans will not see that relationship play out off-screen as well.
