This is evident in her appearance in genre films X-Men: First Class and Divergent. With all the experience she gained from doing action films, how is Mad Max: Fury Road different from her previous projects?

Zoe gave an answer in a recent interview.

“This was unlike anything I’d ever done… Those other films were shot on a sound stage, and then we went home [afterwards]. This was a completely different experience in that we were living in the wasteland for six months…”

To give the film a realistic feel, it was shot for half a year in the Namib Desert where temperatures can drop to near freezing at night time. The movie’s leading lady Charlize Theron quickly adapted to this climate but Zoe admitted that she felt that there were times she wanted to break down and go home. The actress talked about how she felt after filimg the movie.

“… When it was over and I came home, I felt like I had been cleansed; I had been baptized by the Namibian sand.”

In the sequel, Zoe played Toast the Knowing, the toughest of the five abused wives of a ruthless leader in post-apocalypse Australia. Her character was undoubtedly feisty and the actress shared that she had fun playing the role.

“I think she understands the world the most. These girls have been sheltered and taken care of. I think she understands it’s a kill-or-be-killed world, and she’s ready for that… She chopped her hair off. She is a true member of the Wasteland. And it was fun to play…”

The actress also revealed that she had always been a performer. She also related that in her younger years, her parents advised her to wait before getting into acting but eventually, they were not able to stop Zoe from making a name for herself in Hollywod.
