Wiz Khalifa Once Again Leads Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding, And Jason DeRulo On Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’

As predicted, Wiz Khalifa has taken the lead on Billboard‘s Hot 100 for the fifth straight week. Billboard reports the great news.

“Wiz Khalifa’s Furious 7 soundtrack smash ‘See You Again,’ featuring Charlie Puth, dominates the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth week… ‘Again,’ released on Atlantic Records and promoted to radio by Roadrunner Promotions, spends a sixth week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 251,000 downloads sold (down 12 percent) in the week ending May 10, according to Nielsen Music. The track posts a fifth week at No. 1 on both Streaming Songs (24.5 million U.S. streams, up 2 percent) and the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (7.5 million, down 6 percent).”

Billboard also notes that “See You Again” is the longest-running No. 1 rap hit by a lead solo male since 2010. In 2010, Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” spent seven weeks at No. 1. It is likely that “See You Again” will beat that record.

Khalifa recently opened up to MTV about his hit song, which is a tribute to the late Paul Walker.

“To have the responsibility to do the Paul Walker record was really dope… I basically thought about what the movie stands for as far as family and the brotherhood, and of course, using the metaphor of the last ride and the last race because of that last scene.”

Wiz Khalifa recently performed “See You Again” on SNL along with another track. Paste Magazine enjoyed both performances.

“Wiz Khalifa gave two strong performances as musical guest, his SNL debut. The first with Charlie Puth, ‘See You Again,’ an anthemic tribute to actor Paul Walker from Furious 7, and then ‘We Dem Boyz.’ Khalifa has a talent for investing his music with a kind of non-ironic joy, which is refreshing to see … though it may just be the cannabis, for which he is famously known. Still, he really delivered the goods, bringing a great energy to the episode.”

Wiz Khalifa has also been in the news for his relationship with former lover Amber Rose. They have a child named Sebastian and, according to TMZ, the “See You Again” rapper accused Rose of denying the child a good time since she didn’t take him to Khalifa’s party. Wiz has constantly stood up for father’s rights, an issue that has come into play in several states.

Meanwhile, “See You Again” is predicted to be No. 1 again next week on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and could break the chart record for most weeks at No. 1. It is Wiz Khalifa’s world and we are just a part of it.
