‘The Walking Dead’ Casting Spoilers: Is New Female Character A Potential Daryl Dixon Love Interest?

The Walking Dead is introducing a new female character during season 6, and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) fans have a good reason to be excited — she just might be a love interest for the zombie apocalypse’s most eligible bachelor. Before you read on, be forewarned that spoilers for The Walking Dead TV series and comic books are ahead.

According to Wetpaint, a Walking Dead casting notice is making the rounds online, and it hints that another comic book character will make an appearance during the second episode of season 6. The character’s name is listed as “Allison,” but Wetpaint points out that there’s a very high probability that this is just a placeholder moniker.

Allison is described as “a smart, artful, and charming psychologist who quickly turns awkward and messy when it comes to her personal life.” Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) could definitely benefit from a few chats with this new character, and she has other traits that would make her a valuable member of his group.

“She’d much rather stay safely inside her comfort zone, but the true test of her mettle comes when the comfort’s gone and the stakes are life and death. She’s not cynical and really cares about people.”

It sounds like Allison has a lot in common with Daryl Dixon — he’s struggled to readjust to life outside of his own comfort zone, he’s also awkward when it comes to that sappy love stuff, and he really cares about his family.

During season 5 of The Walking Dead, viewers caught a glimpse of something that might hint at a future interaction between Daryl and Allison. As the New York Daily News points out, Daryl picked up a book during his Atlanta adventure with Carol Peletier, and he’s definitely not just doing a little light reading to pass the time during the apocalypse — it was titled Treating Survivors of Child Abuse: Psychotherapy for the Interrupted Life.

Daryl obviously needs help getting over his rough upbringing, Allison is a psychologist, and sparks could fly if they ever start spending a great deal of time together talking about Daryl’s violent childhood.

Caryl shippers want Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier to couple up on The Walking Dead, but many of Norman Reedus’ past comments seem to suggest that this is just never going to happen. If Daryl does hook up with someone, it will probably be a new character like Allison.

However, there’s also a possibility that Allison already has a man in her life. As the Inquisitr previously reported, another Walking Dead casting call teased the addition of two new characters named Delvin and Tucker. The description of Delvin makes him sound an awful lot like a beloved Walking Dead comic book character named Heath. Heath begins a relationship with a doctor named Denise Cloyd, and there’s a high likelihood that Allison and Denise are one and the same — her profession has simply been changed for the TV series.

Heath and Denise are important residents of Alexandria in the comic books, but they haven’t been mentioned on the TV series. If they do appear on the show, their story could get a pretty significant remix, and they might not end up in a relationship.

Are you looking forward to meeting three new characters when The Walking Dead returns this October, and do you think “Allison” sounds like the perfect match for Daryl Dixon?
