Ashley Judd Talks ‘Missing,’ Denies Plastic Surgery Rumors [Video]

In ABC’s ambitious new drama Missing, actress Ashley Judd plays a mother and former CIA agent, Rebecca Winstone, who taps into an unexpected reservoir of skills when her teenage son disappears in Europe. Butt-kicking and international intrigue ensue.

Judd, best remembered for her roles in Kiss the Girls and Double Jeopardy, explained to Hitflix that many of her stunts and fight scenes in the series came pretty naturally.

“I have to say, I can throw an elbow. The stunts are really easy for me, for some reason… I remember years and years and years ago, my sister and I had done a bunch of hiking and [Mother] just sat at the supper table and she said, ‘My girls have always been so coordinated.’ So I’m very coordinated. It just comes to me and I really like it. So the stunts were the easy part. Getting enough sleep was the hard part. The fighting was easy.”

While the stunt work and fighting posed no problem for Ashley, the actress – a huge Kentucky Wildcats fan – said ABC’s decision to premier Missing on the same day as the start of the NCAA tournament was a bit of a bummer.

Judd said, of realizing the conflict of interests:

“Hello! That was an instantaneous calculation on my part and if we’re a Thursday night game, then the show will not have the Big Blue Nation and that’s a core part of my demographic. It’ll be interesting to see if that actually shows in the numbers.”

In addition to chatting about her upcoming series, Judd also addressed rumors that she recently underwent a plastic surgery.

The Missing actress was rumored by some gossip columnists to have had a facelift when her face appeared “puffy” during an appearance this week on a Canadian TV show.

“For the record, [the cosmetic surgery claims are] unequivocally not true. Ashley has been battling an ongoing, serious sinus infection and flu,” Judd’s spokesperson, Cara Tripicchio, said in a statement to E!News. “Therefore, Ashley has been on a heavy dose of medication to overcome it so she could get on a plane and travel to Toronto and New York to fulfil her commitment of completing four consecutive days of press to promote her new show Missing.”

Judd later clarified on Twitter that she was also taking steroids in addition to other medication in order to recover from the illness.

“Steroids never preferred, but I’ll use whatever it takes when it gets this bad and stays for so long (3 weeks),” she wrote to one follower.
