Jessa Duggar Due Date: ’19 Kids And Counting’ Star Expecting On Extra Special Day, Still Plans To Adopt

Jessa Duggar announced this week that she is pregnant, and the 19 Kids and Counting star has a due date that might be extra special.

The 22-year-old and her husband Ben Seewald told People magazine on Tuesday that they are expecting their first child later this year. The news comes after months of speculation that Jessa and Ben were expecting, although other rumors that they had no plans to rush into having kids were also present.

The couple also included a special message in the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting.

Jessa said the pregnancy hasn’t been too bad so far.

“I am feeling pretty good,” says Jessa. “The morning sickness was different every day. It’s getting better, but I’m still hanging on to the heartburn. And I don’t have any super-serious food cravings.”

Jessa Duggar also shared that her due date could be one with extra significance. Doctors estimated her delivery date to be November 1 — which also happens to be her first anniversary with Ben Seewald.

The pregnancy for Jessa Duggar comes as a bit of a surprise to some. There had been rumors that she and Ben were not planning on having kids anytime soon and even some reports that Jessa was bucking family tradition by going on birth control.

In February, a source told the Hollywood Gossip that Jessa was focusing on being married and not rushing into having kids

“Jessa and Ben are definitely active in the bedroom, so it’s suspicious she hasn’t gotten pregnant,” the source said. “She wants to enjoy being a wife for a while. She’s not like her siblings. She doesn’t feel any pressure to get pregnant.”

Others believed that Jessa Duggar was planning to grow her family through adoption, not pregnancy. She and Ben had been open about their desire to adopt kids — and Jessa says they still are.

“Our hearts haven’t changed on adoption,” Jessa told People magazine. “We are still making plans.”

There were more hints in recent days before Jessa was confirmed to be pregnant. She was seen shopping for maternity clothes last week, and in a number of photographs she was seen obscuring her stomach.

If Jessa Duggar is anything like her sister, the due date may not matter much. Jill Duggar just gave birth to her first child, a son named Israel. The little one arrived close to two weeks after his due date, which Jill said she was expecting given that first-time moms often deliver at least a week late.
