Rumor claims MySpace’s Tom Anderson dead in a car crash

The latest entry in our fake celebrity death file comes MySpace founder Tom Anderson, who according to messages currently being forwarded in MySpace and via mobile phone, died in a head on car crash.

Tom is best known to MySpace users as the default first friend all users have when they set up their MySpace accounts.

To the best of our knowledge, Tom Anderson is not dead, and no credible source is reporting the rumors as fact. The rumors are being spread with a message to forward it to other friends, a usual tell-tale sign that this is mischief making and false. While we can never be 100% sure, we’re calling this a hoax. Besides, the only thing dying at MySpace at the moment is its traffic vs Facebook.
