Two Simpsons Fans Watch 86 Hours and 37 Minutes of The Simpsons, Set New World Record

Jeremiah Franco and Carin Shreve have probably watched more episodes of “The Simpsons” than you. The two Simpson fanatics watched 86 hours and 37 consecutive minutes of “The Simpsons” to set a new Guinness World Record for longest continuous television viewing.

Cinema Blend reports that Franco, 22, and Shreve, joined a 100 other contestants in a TV watching marathon in California. The contest featured a continuous stream of Simpsons episodes. Fox called the contest and declared Shreve and Franco co-winners after they surpassed the previous record by a half hour.

But Fox didn’t call the contest because they were running out of episodes. The Simpsons, who will be celebrating their 500th episode this Sunday, have amassed approximately 11000 minutes (183.3 hours) of television.

Shreve said it wasn’t easy to go on a multi-day TV watching bender. Shreve said:

“I just kept on going and kept on going, and at about I think hour 80, I was sitting there, like, “‘Oh, wait a minute! I think I’m starting to feel tired!’ So I’d get up and start running in place.”

According to Cinema Blend, Shreve and Franco won $10,500 and a ticket to the 500th episode premier.

Are you excited for the Simpsons 500th episode. The historic episode, which will feature Julian Assange, will air this Sunday.
