richard-hatch-tax evasion 25 irs payment rejectedFormer reality TV star Richard Hatch has lost his latest appeal in his tax evasion case tied to the $1 million he won in the first season of “Survivor.”

On Tuesday, A Rhode Island Federal judge denied Hatch’s request to pay a smaller amount ($25) to the IRS for the month of January.

According to a report by the Washington Post, Hatch, 50, was ordered to pay 25 percent of his gross income to the IRS as part of his sentence for failing to comply with the terms of his supervised release. He sought the reduced payment, saying he’d earned only $500 since being freed in December after spending nine months in prison.

Public defender Mary McElroy says Hatch’s accountant and agent take 20 percent of his income and he’s saving for an apartment. She says he’s relying on others for housing and basic necessities.

Richard Hatch talks about his prison time for tax evasion in the clip below:

  1. Yes he screwed up. But leave it up to the IRS to continue to beat him when he is down. How about going after some of the corporate theives that fail to pay year after year? Or better yet, DISBAND the IRS, fire all of the power hungry idiots!

  2. Who's feeling sorry for this numbnuts? He got a million dollars, remember? And he can't pay his taxes? Where did all the money go?

  3. Who's feeling sorry for this numbnuts? He got a million dollars, remember? And he can't pay his taxes? Where did all the money go?

  4. That was 12 years ago.

  5. It probably, by now, has gone to his lawyers.

  6. I do & I don't feel sorry for him.
If one doesn't have the money…. what do you do?

Yes, the guy is a dick but the IRS isn't that much better in my book.

  7. I agree disband the irs and fire all those power hungry morons.

  8. He says he was mistreated by the prosecutor because he was gay. Took that page out of the 2008 Obama campaign for president.
I don't feel the judge is wrong in requiring him to pay the IRS 25% of his income. He never paid taxes on the million or the hundreds of thousands he made in the year that followed the year he won. Its not like he can't afford to pay the 25%. He still owes the government hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  9. You don't need an accountant or an agent when you owe Uncle Sam. You need to pay it.

  10. What's wrong with this idiot? 12 years after winning $1 million, he's having to rely on friends for housing and basic necessities? Where did the money go? I'm pretty sure if I won a million dollars, I would be set for life. You can't fix stupid.

  11. how and why does this idiot need an agent for anything! he has to rely on charity yet he has an agent?

  12. Only an idiot would think like that..and that you sure seem to be! Who pays your bills……or are your finances so simple, you just go to H&R Block?

  13. And if u get sick or want to leave even a meager amount for those you might leave behind…one million dollars is nothing!!!

I won't defend the IRS, however if I were broke and only made $500.00 since December. I wouldn't need the services of an agent or accountant. Or I would at least get a new agent who could get me work, so the accountant would have more than $500.00 to count.

What are you the daughter of Bud Abbott…trying to be a comedian…stick with your day job of picking up dead animals on the highway idiot.

  19. agreed….the IRS isn't even a real government agency anyway. They are just like the Fed, they are a bunch of money and power hungry bureaucrats that think they control the people of this country by way of fear. We don't have to stand for that!!!! Wake up, America and vote Ron Paul into the White House. He will obliterate these unconstitutional morons!!!

  20. Ron Paul? I would rather battle the IRS, than see that piece of shit in Washington.

  21. really enough is enough already! this guy lost everything and went to jail for trivial amounts of money compared to what the wall street hacks are doing time for. This case should have been closed along time ago!
