Ariana Grande Concert Slammed: Perhaps She Isn’t The ‘New Mariah Carey’

Ariana Grande played Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this past weekend and the official reviews didn’t live up to the heights of her voice. Piet Levy of the Journal Sentinel thought Ariana Grande needed more practice.

“But Saturday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, Grande faced one of the bigger tests of her career. The 21-year-old headlined an arena for only the second time on her first-ever tour. And it showed. The Bradley Center may have been filled to near-capacity with automatically adoring teen and preteen ‘Arianators.’ But the Milwaukee stop on Grande’s Honeymoon Tour didn’t signify the birth of the next superstar. Most of the time, it felt like a dress rehearsal.”

In his review, Levy went on to talk about how the show was uninspired and the direction was completely misguided. But at least he wasn’t as hurt as Ariana Grande could have been. According to the Daily Mail, Ms. Grande got caught in a lift that didn’t quite function right. She kept performing her song “Love Me Harder” despite the danger. Performances can be tough these days — just ask Madonna, who was pulled (she didn’t fall as others stated) by one of her dancers and went plunging to the ground.

On Ticketmaster, fans seemed to enjoy Ariana’s performance. One Ticketmaster user, Liz8868, gave Ariana Grande four-out-of-five stars.

“Loud. Entertaining! Lots of strobe lights. Rixton great opening act. Ariana powerful voice! Great job for first night of the tour. The d.j. before both acts awful! Language horrible especially for some of the young kids that was present! Which is why 4 stars. Ariana and Rixton 5 stars.”

Another user, Iluvdylmia, agreed that Ariana put on a near-perfect performance.

“This show was awesome! Lots of great choreography, lighting, sound, effects…a great overall performance. Wasn’t fond of the DJ who opened the night, but it picked up quickly when Rixton took the stage.”

Ariana Grande is one of the most successful female singers on the planet right now. However, she is branching out into the fragrance world as well. Ms. Grande recently told Women’s Wear Daily that she is obsessed with perfume and since she is always asked about what fragrance she is wearing, wanted to create something encompassing everything she loves. Ariana expects to launch a major advertising campaign for the perfume soon and retailers expect big sales, especially from teenagers. Ariana Grande may have her critics, but she appears to be here to stay.
