Dalton School Death Under Investigation As Possible Suicide
Investigators are trying to figure out how a 17-year-old student fell from the window of New York City’s Dalton School Wednesday morning. The boy died after hitting the ground below, news agencies report.

Police say the teen fell from a window on the Dalton School’s 11th floor. The boy’s body reportedly landed on a sidewalk, right in front of an area where children were playing. No other injuries have been reported.
The boy has not been identified, though he is believed to have been a student at the Dalton School. Officers suspect he may have gone into an empty dance studio, opened the window, and willingly jumped, the New York Daily News reports. Officially, however, the death has not been ruled as a suicide or as accidental thus far.

The Dalton School, widely considered one of Manhattan’s most prestigious institutions, was founded in 1919. It has about 1300 students. The Dalton School is located in New York’s Upper East Side on East 89th Street, between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue. Chevy Chase, Anderson Cooper, and Claire Danes are among the celebrities who attended the school.
