'Grand Theft Auto 6' location, release date rumored as Rockstar Games drops hints

‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ Location Could Be Vice City, Other Rumors Steal Fans’ Attention

The Grand Theft Auto 6 location could be one that long-time fans remember from the earlier glory days of the franchise. Before Trevor, Michael, and Franklyn took on the streets of Los Santos to get rich, another anti-hero took on the streets of the fictional Miami and its real estate market.

Tommy Vercetti or perhaps someone he’s crossed may be returning to the open world of Rockstar GamesVice City for another shot at fortune and fame in a city riddled with gangs and drugs.

Other rumors have the GTA 6 location in places such as Portland, Oregon or Houston, Texas, according to Youth Health Magazine. Reasons include Portland being a huge center of car theft in the real world, and Houston being a great place to introduce the Mexican cartel.

Rockstar Games president Leslie Benzies explained how the Grand Theft Auto 6 location could easily determine what happens.

“Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you’re doing different things in [L.A.] than in New York or Miami. Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas.”

It will be difficult to top GTA 5, and it would make a lot more sense to simply include all of the previous cities in the next game, possibly with an airport as the central hub. Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser also brought up the possibility of a female protagonist in the next game.

“In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course. We just haven’t found the right game for it yet, but it’s one of the things we always think about.”

If there is a female protagonist in the next game, she could very well be a victim of previous characters out for revenge, wanting compensation, and willing to do anything to get it. In that way, the Grand Theft Auto 6 location could easily include every setting used so far, as well as new ones.

Other rumors include GTA 6 repeating what its predecessor did and giving us multiple protagonists outside the persistent online side of the game.

If this happens, you can be sure that the game size will be massive, and you might want to get a bigger hard drive. Pushing higher definition graphics in a collection of all the places the series has been, using multiple protagonists, and introducing new locations will all create heftier requirements than even GTA 5 used.

Would you be excited to revisit old turf as a female character? What do you think the Grand Theft Auto 6 location will be when the GTA 6 release date supposedly hits in 2017?
