Dolly Parton Writing Broadway Musical About Dolly Parton [Video]

Dolly Parton grew up a poor country girl and now she’s a country music star. It’s a story that was made for Broadway. And well, now that’s exactly where it’s heading.

Dolly Parton is currently developing a new musical for Broadway about her life.

Parton told WENN:

“I’m writing my life story as a musical for Broadway. I probably won’t be in it, but I’ll find a way to introduce it somehow, maybe the older me.”

Zap2it reports that Dolly already has some Broadway experience. Parton wrote original songs for the stage adaptation of “9 to 5.” “9 to 5: The Musical” debuted on Broadway in 2009.

Parton said:

“’9 to 5′ didn’t make it on Broadway but it didn’t sour me. I learned all this stuff from it.”
