‘GTA V’ Online Betting Now Disabled For An Upcoming Title Update

Those who enjoy the online multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto V will be unable to place in-game bets within GTA Online at this time. Rockstar Games announced on their official support site that online betting was disabled in GTA V on Tuesday morning. The developer expects to add the feature back to GTA V in a new title update for the game.

“Betting has been temporarily disabled in GTA Online while we investigate an issue, but will return in a future Title Update.”

While Rockstar Games didn’t specifically say why online betting was turned off in GTA V, many users believe that it was due to a money glitch that allowed players to use an exploit to receive ill-gotten cash in GTA Online. The developer also didn’t clarify exactly how long they expect it will take before online bets return to GTA V. It’s also worth mentioning that Rockstar Games didn’t even say that the feature would necessarily get re-added to the game with the next title update. Instead, the developer merely stated that a future patch for GTA V would eventually enable fans to bet online once again.

Before the feature was removed, users could place bets before starting certain activities within GTA Online. For example, this gave players the chance to win some extra in-game cash by betting on the winners of vehicle races. Until the issues surrounding online bets are resolved, however, GTA V fans will have to wait before they can resume betting within the game.

In addition to disabling online bets, the temporary Christmas-themed items that were added to GTA V were also recently removed from the game. Rockstar Games confirmed through their official Twitter account on Monday that all limited holiday gear would be taken out of the game later that same day. This includes holiday sweaters, scarves, and the holiday launcher. Those who picked up the special Christmas stocking mask, however, will get to permanently keep that particular apparel item.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3. Rockstar Games also plans to release a PC version of the game soon. As reported by the Inquisitr, the developer has denied the recent rumors about a delay, which would leave the game on track for a late January launch as scheduled. Like the recently released remastered edition of GTA V on next-gen consoles, the title’s PC version will featured improved HD textures and additional features.
