Diane Sawyer Drunk? The Post-Inauguration Night Video

Was Diane Sawyer drunk on-air? Video showing a slightly silly and slurring Sawyer the morning after Barack Obama’s inauguration has some claiming the ABC anchor had a few too many and may not have slept it off.
More likely, of course, she had to work through the night — and then, thanks to ABC News, went straight into anchoring Good Morning America without a break.

If you've ever worked in television doing a telethon (all night fundraiser where you're on your local station every half hour for ten minutes, and you don't sleep for 24 hours), you'll know that's exactly how Diane was feeling after doing GMA the morning of the Inauguration, working through the day covering the Inauguration, and working through the evening covering the after-events – then doing GMA the next day with little or no sleep. No alcohol necessary, and unlikely she even tasted any. She's way too professional to risk her stellar reputation and career with too many nips of the bottle. No, Diane was just sleep-deprived like any meteorologist pulling the hurricane shift, and she was funny as hell in those videos! Get some rest, dear Diane! Kentucky Loves You!

Diane did appear drunk. I have worked a full twenty four hours and have never slurred my speech like Diane did. I saw this when it was televised and she sure looked drunk to me.

Don not be naive, she is wrecked and she has been caught red handed doing this before. I have always loved Ms. Sawyer for being a regular mess just like the rest of us.

While it appears that she's drunk, many medical problems can caused slurred speech. MS, MD, Parkinsons…also medications that affect the central nervous system can cause slurred speech. I'm not going to make any assumptions.
