Spider-Man Comic Book Valued at $15,000 Stolen from Collector’s Neb. Home

spider-man-amazing-fantasy-no-15-comic-book-stolenA rare 1962 comic book featuring the first appearance of our “friendly neighborhood” hero, Spider-Man, has been stolen from a collector in Lincoln, Nebraska, police say.

According to a report by the Lincoln Journal Star, the collector’s edition of “Amazing Fantasy No. 15,” valued at somewhere in the ball park of $15,000, disappeared sometime between Oct. 27 and Nov. 14.

The owner told authorities that several people had been in an out of his home since he last saw the comic book, which he says he kept tucked away with several other comic books.

Earlier this year in May, a mint copy of Amazing Fantasy No. 15 (seen below) was sold to an unnamed buyer for $1.1 million.

  3. Walter Long, you should have burst the bubble, but then, it's kind of hard to say what Action #1 is worth anymore, but suffice to say, a mint copy would be worth well over 1 million dollars. And I was fascinated in the early seventies when one such book sold for 10 K-if I had been older and had more money…so I guess Michael Blau has the right idea!
