Small Earthquake Hits Los Angeles

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake shook Los Angeles and surrounding areas at 7:50pm local time Thursday.
The quake was centered about a mile south of San Bernardino, and was felt across Los Angeles, San Pedro and Orange County.
There were no reports of damage or injuries.
Experts claim that Los Angeles is due for a large quake after a long stretch of relative quietness. A 5.4 quake shook Los Angeles is July 2008, the largest quake in 14 years.
More if we have it.

WOW! From Costa Rica:
The earth is alive. We also feel a quake. 6.2 bigger than California.
Some medium material damages, But it is not to alarm the world.
Most of the damages are around the Poas Volcano.

Not only do I think 2008 was “shakier” than usual but I think 2009 has started out with quite the jolt(ers)!! CA has had its fair share of minor quakes and recently a 4.5M in San Bernardino (1/9/09). But look at what is going on globally: there have already been several quakes greater than 4.0 ~~Greece, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Afghanistan, Pakistan and who knows who I may have forgotten! It is time to take research into precursors seriously: we simply must find an Earthquake Warning System that works similar to a Hurricane Tracker that allows enough time to make preparations and in a worse case scenario evacuation. It would be nice to know one is coming so we know not to be standing next to a wall to get crushed (see story about Greece newlywed!) Time to check out http://www.quakefinder.com and take their research seriously ~~ geophysicists and seismologists of the world UNITE!
