Aviva Drescher Fired From ‘RHONY’: Sources Confirm Star’s Departure

Aviva Drescher has been fired from The Real Housewives of New York City. There have been murmurs of cast changes ahead, but typically the network doesn’t confirm much of anything until a new season is about to debut. In this case, however, there is no more speculating on Aviva Drescher’s firing from RHONY, as it apparently has been confirmed.

According to Gossip Cop, Aviva Drescher’s firing is the first cast change confirmation regarding the The Real Housewives of New York City franchise to come through. She has been with the show since 2011 and created quite the stir when she threw her prosthetic leg across a table at Le Cirque during the finale of Season 6.

As Breathe Cast notes, ratings dropped enough over the course of this last season of RHONY that Bravo TV certainly has to consider some significant changes. Andy Cohen, the Real Housewives executive producer, has never been afraid to make big changes and it sounds as if he’s dedicating a lot of energy into righting the RHONY ship. It sounds like he’s definitely considering all possible options when it comes to the new season of The Real Housewives of New York City.

It doesn’t come as a surprise to many that Aviva Drescher was fired from RHONY, as there have been rumblings about that coming for a bit. Apparently there is a chance that Ramona Singer could return, but Bravo reportedly would want her to be willing to incorporate her marriage troubles. She’s said to be hesitant to agree to that, wanting to keep that part of her life separate from the show. Other sources seem to indicate that Bravo may not be all that interested in Singer’s return on any terms, so RHONY fans will have to stay tuned on that front.

Sonja Morgan is expected to return, as is Carole Radziwill, supposedly. Not long ago, there had been rumors that the entire The Real Housewives of New York City cast would be fired, but that apparently is not accurate. What about LuAnn de Lesseps, Heather Thomas, and other familiar faces? According to the Daily News, de Lesseps may be back as a regular housewife after a scaled back role last season.

For now, it seems that RHONY fans will have to stay tuned for confirmations on what lies ahead for Season 7. Are you surprised to hear that Aviva Drescher was fired from The Real Housewives of New York City? Which ladies do you think Bravo should have involved in Season 7 when it begins?
