‘Orange’ Hoax: Did ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Really Get Canceled By Netflix?

An Orange hoax has Orange is the New Black fans freaking out all over the internet. Apparently someone started a vicious, uncalled for, and heart-stopping rumor that Netflix actually canceled the Emmy-nominated show. Abruptly, without warning. Fans of the show were outraged, heartbroken… Orange crushed even… but the the truth was reported fairly quickly. According to The New York Daily News, the rumor was just a hoax.

The fake statement read:

“We regret to inform Netflix members that ‘Orange is the New Black’ has been permanently cancelled. Also, starting September 1st, 2014, past episodes will no longer be available for streaming on Netflix.”

The Orange hoax was also outed by the show’s official Twitter page:

“‘Orange Is The New Black’ has NOT been canceled. Whoever started this rumor will be spending some time in the SHU.”

Despite several frantic messages on social media, and fans completely freaking out, those associated with the show didn’t let the bogus rumor rain on their parade. The newest piece of legit Orange is the New Black news came late last week when the show was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards! So many are thrilled that the Netflix original series is getting such recognition — and it is completely deserved.

Warning! Spoilers ahead!

The Orange hoax didn’t support news that the show has been renewed for season three — which is already in the works. The script has been written, and you favorite characters (Piper! Crazy Eyes! Red!) will be back for more “fun” at Litchfield. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, you will be seeing a lot of Alex Vause (played by actress Laura Prepon) in season three. She will reportedly be in every single episode.

Everyone is slated to return for the new season, except for one person: George “Pornstache” Mendez. Since Mendez (who everyone loves to hate) is in prison, he has been dropped from the show, at least for Season 3. The 13-episode season isn’t slated for release until 2015 — likely in June or July. Sure, that might be a long time to wait, but at least the show isn’t canceled!
