Pennsylvania Drivers Surprised To See Dead Body On The Road

On Friday, onlookers and drivers were shocked to see a dead body lying in the middle of the road in Feasterville, Pennsylvania.

According to reports, a coroner’s office employee realized that the rear door of the coroner’s van he was driving had malfunctioned, and the dead body he was transporting fell out on the road. Bucks County Courier Times said that the driver immediately acted to retrieve the corpse “in a matter of moments” with the help of a bystander.

County spokesman Chris Edwards said that the coroner’s van was headed towards the county coroner’s office in Warminister when the incident occurred.

The bystander who helped the driver was identified as Jerry Bradley, who is a resident of Bucks County. He said that he saw the gurney while he was waiting at a traffic light on the intersection. Bradley pulled over as other cars continued driving by. He was surprised to see that the gurney had a corpse.

“I thought someone was playing a prank. Someone is pranking people. It was the most bizarre thing I’d ever seen.”

Bradley pushed the gurney to the sidewalk to get it out of the traffic. He was also able to snap a picture of the gurney while it was still on the middle of the road.

According to NOLA, the Bucks County Coroner’s Office “deeply regrets” the incident. In a statement, they said, “Care was taken to respect the deceased individual in this instance. The Bucks County Coroner’s Office deeply regrets this incident and will take steps to ensure that it is not repeated in the future.”

The picture of the dead body that Bradley took quickly became viral when he posted it on Facebook. After the incident, he called his co-worker at the Feasterville alternative school where he worked and told her about the incident. “You’ll never believe this,” he said. Of course, being that the incident was bizarre, his co-worker did not believe his story until she saw the picture on Facebook.

The picture showed a dead body wrapped in a white blanket and strapped to a gurney that was in the middle of the road. He captioned it, “Just when I though I’ve seen everything. That’s a dead body on a stretcher that launched out of the back of a coroner’s vehicle in Feasterville.” A day after the picture was posted, it already garnered over 1,300 shares. Bradley said that he didn’t know how to feel about the incident.

“I have to keep going back to look at it to believe it happened. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. If that was my loved one I’d be angry.”

The coroner’s office said that the incident was the result of a mechanical malfunction with the rear door of the van, and was not caused by human error.
