Prince George Walking: 10-Month-Old Royal Taking His First Steps, Says Kate Middleton

Prince George is walking and progressing steadily. The update about the prince comes after Kate Middleton met four-time Olympic gold medalist, Sir Ben Ainslie, on Tuesday at the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich in London. This latest stage in the prince’s development is making headlines today.

According to a new report out by People, Ainslie wants to take Duchess Kate and her son out on the water. The British sailor would introduce the prince to a small “single-handed children’s sailboat called an Optimist dinghy.” The Olympian says:

“The Duchess was very keen, but not for a couple of years yet – when he’s about 7 or 8.”

It’s a good six or seven years until Prince George goes from walking to sailing a boat — if the Duchess has her way! Ainslie says:

“But we’d love to get the Duchess sailing sooner. She’s very keen and of course we’d love to get her out on the water – she doesn’t get to do it much now.”

E! Online has more on what Ainslie had to say. He points out that Kate loves the sport:

“She’s from a sailing family and she loves sailing. You can just tell she’s always been keen on it and her face just lights up when she’s talking about it.”

News of Prince George walking wound up being the highlight of Kate Middleton’s visit. She attended the engagement to support Ainslie in his quest to have a British challenge for America’s Cup. Ainslie will captain the team hoping to win the 35th America’s Cup in 2017.

When Prince George joined his parents on the royal tour in New Zealand and Australia in April, the youngster was in the very beginning stages of standing, about ready to walk.

The Inquisitr often writes about Prince George and the public appearances he makes. If he isn’t appearing with the Duke and Duchess on their royal duties, his latest activities are in the media. As the future king of England, the press will always be a large part of his life. The few times that the prince has been on camera, he’s well-behaved and doesn’t mind the crowds of people and photographers. One can imagine it’s not exactly the type of surroundings a little one can get a restful nap in.

Now that Prince George is walking, his next milestone will be talking. People might just see the prince walking hand-in-hand with his mother soon.
