Microsoft Confirms Kinect Support for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary

In news that will surprise just about no one, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer casually confirmed in an E3 interview with GameSpot that some form of Kinect integration is coming to the recently-announced Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary remake from 343 Industries.

As a first-party, we believe that Kinect will be important to all genres of games, be it racing games with Forza, combat games like Ryse – even games like Halo Anniversary has Kinect integration.

This goes along with Spencer’s earlier comments from E3, where he told GameSpot that all first-party titles will likely have some form of Kinect support.

It’s not a mandate that everything we do in first party has to support Kinect right now,” he said. “But I will say, specifically with voice, that there are some things that just seem to make navigating and playing games so much easier…that I would guess the answer will be yes in the end that you’ll see all first-party games using some form of Kinect functionality.

Though not confirmed one way or another at this point, you can safely place your bets on there being, for better or worse, some form of Kinect integration in Halo 4 as well.
