Gene Simmons Family Jewels Season 6 Drama

Gene Simmons Family Jewels, the popular A&E reality show entering its 6th season tonight, is about to get a lot more, well, real.

In the series, which follows the life of KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons, his longtime partner Shannon Tweed, and their two children, the couple has had their share of ‘fights’ but for the most part seemed happy.

This season however, Tweed finally admits she played nice for years while kids Nick and Sophie still lived at home, but daughter Sophie’s departure for college gave her an opening to finally confront Simmons over his ways and their 28-year relationship.

“Oh, we’re going to show lots of warts this year,” Tweed told TV Guide. “There were a lot of things that I kept to myself until they did go to college. A lot of mothers do that. A lot of couples stay together for the children. I think it’s an obligation that parents have… You made a commitment, you had children, you should see it through.”

The family admitted they might have been more guarded in Season One had this happened back then. But now, “the longer the cameras are there, the more real stuff you get to deal with,” Tweed says. “Familiarity brings out other issues and we don’t hide them.”

Check out the following awkward clip, in which MSNBC’s Today Show interviews Simmons and Tweed about season 6 of their show.
