Israel Plans To Decriminalize Marijuana

Israel plans to decriminalize personal marijuana use. Internal Security minister Gilad Erdan said that if the government approves his new policy then individuals caught using marijuana would be fined rather than arrested. Since 2010 enforcement has dropped by 30 percent and according to the U.N. office on drugs and crime approximately nine percent of Israelis use cannabis. Israel is also one of the leading countries on medical marijuana research.
