Sponsors Cut Ties With Sharapova After Failed Drug Test

Maria Sharapova revealed that she recently received a letter from the ITF informing her that she failed a drug test at the Australian Open. Nike pulled her sponsorship within hours of the confession, as did TAG Heur and Porsche. For Nike, it seems as though they have had one disgraced ambassador after another, with Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and now Maria Sharapova. Celebrity endorsements have become costly and risky for big brands.
