A 22-year-old man from Ohio filmed a video confession this week saying that he was responsible for killing a man in a car crash back in June.

Matthew Cordle admitted that he had been drinking on the night of the fatal car crash and said that he was ready to take “full responsibility” for the head-on collision that killed Vincent Canzani.

Cordle says: “My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22nd, 2013, I hit and killed Vincent Canzani. This video will act as my confession.”

The video was posted to the website BecauseISaidIWould.com . According to founder Alex Sheen, Cordle has not been convicted of any crimes yet and posted the video “against all legal advice.”

But the 22-year-old isn’t really looking for any legal advice. He made a mistake and now he’s ready to take full responsibility. Cordle said that he made the video confession because he wanted to give prosecutors “everything they need to” put him away “for a very long time.”

Cordle said: “When I get charged I’ll plead guilty and take full responsibility for everything I’ve done to Vincent and his family… I can’t bring Mr. Canzani back, and I can’t erase what I’ve done, but you can still be saved. Your victims can still be saved. So, please, make the promise to never drink and drive.”

The Houston Chronicle reports that Cordle is considered a suspect in the deadly crash but that he has not been charged with a crime yet. Franklin County prosecutor Ron O’Brien said that downloaded a copy of the young man’s video confession and plans to use it as evidence.

O’Brien said that he’ll ask a grand jury to indict Cordle for aggravated homicide with an alcohol specification. Cordle faces a maximum sentence of 8-years in prison.

Here is Matthew Cordle’s video confession.
