The Voice is a popular reality television show that chronicles regular people who want to become recording artists. Chosen candidates work with celebrity judges who mentor them. The auditions are “blind,” and the celebrity judges can only hear the contestants before choosing to mentor them. The winner of the competition gets $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. The Voice franchise airs in several nations, and in the United States, it airs on NBC. The Voice began airing in 2011 and originally cast Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green as coaches. In Season 2, Aguilera and Green left and were replaced by Shakira and Usher. The show currently stars Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys along with Levine and Shelton.
