Sarah Palin is an American politician and former governor of Alaska. She rose to national prominence in 2008 when Republican presidential nominee John McCain made her the surprise pick for his running mate. Palin famously “went rogue” during the election, going against the campaign’s wishes and taking a number of personal attacks against Barack Obama. Although she and McCain lost the election, the feisty spirit helped Palin forge a career as a political analyst, primarily on Fox News. In the years since then, Palin has written two best-selling books, starred in a reality television series, and occasionally teased the idea of running for president again.
