Robert Downey, Jr. is an American actor best known for his roles in Chaplin as Charlie Chaplin, Natural Born Killers, and The Avengers, among other memorable films. He began his acting career at the age of 5 in the movie Pound. A child actor who rose to success at a young age, Robert had his share of trouble as he transitioned to an adult. Despite substance abuse issues during his younger years, Robert has found success again as he’s hit middle age. For his role in Chaplin, Downey received an Academy Award for Best Actor. He also received a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film for his performance on the series Ally McBeal.
