PlayStation made its mark in 1994 when it was released by Sony as a competitor to Sega and Nintendo. A major player in the world’s gaming market, PlayStation consoles have included the PSP, PS4, and Playstation Vita. Of all consoles sold in Japan, PlayStation represents 78 percent of the market as of 2015. PlayStation games of notoriety include Call of Duty, Destiny, and Grand Theft Auto V. The interconnectivity of players is handled through PlayStation’s social internet features called the Playstation Network. The PlayStation’s earliest roots come from a project in 1988 between Sony and Nintendo. The earliest incarnation of the PlayStation was presented at an electronics conference in 1991.
