Miley Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus in November of 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee, the daughter of singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus. In her teens, she legally changed her name to Miley.

She had been singing for most of her life and came to prominence at age 11 when she was cast by Disney as Hannah Montana, starring opposite her father. Hannah Montana premiered on March 24, 2006, to the largest audience for a Disney Channel program, and it quickly became one of Disney’s biggest hits. After her time as Hannah Montana, Cyrus tried everything to pull away from such a sweet childish role. She did several movies and started putting out albums that spoke more about who she actually is.
